The salary cap for executives is a terrible idea. It’s somewhere on the awful scale between Mark McAfee’s columns and Georgia men’s basketball. In Tuesday’s column, “Wall Street needs to mimic Main Street,” Tamara Best enthusiastically endorsed President Barack Obama’s call to limit executive compensation in the banking and finance industry to $500,000.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up in a house that lived and breathed Georgia football. The 11th Commandment was “Thou Shalt Hate the Gators,” tailgating was the only acceptable form of Saturday socializing and my parents have had their season tickets longer than I’ve been alive.

Ironically enough, my involvement with the Student Government Association began last year when I wrote a column for The Red & Black that asked the winners of the election to get loud, get relevant and get accountable. To my surprise, then-president-elect Jamie Peper personally called me to thank me for the article and to ask me to come and get involved.
