Athens-Clarke County Police arrested a University Police officer and charged him with public intoxication and criminal trespass after a restroom at the Pita Pit was damaged, police said. It was reported Wednesday that he was fired by the University police department.
Alcohol leads to Chi Phi trouble

A female University student was arrested Saturday and charged with taking more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Heery’s Clothes Closet, police said.

Calls and e-mails flooded the offices on Joe Brown Hall’s second floor Tuesday as former German students and faculty learned a member of the University community was one of the Virginia Tech massacre victims.
Bishop, a German professor, was among the first shot and killed when the Virginia Tech gunman Cho Seung-Hui entered his introductory German class Monday morning and opened fire.
Female student in ICU

A female University student was admitted to the intensive care unit of St. Mary’s Hospital after a maintenance worker found her unconscious in her bathtub, officials said.
A maintenance employee of the student’s apartment complex was putting a flyer on the apartment door across the hall Tuesday morning when he noticed water seeping from under an exterior wall, police said.

Rocking chairs stolen from Sigma Chi porch

Four rocking chairs with accompanying plaques valued at $820 were stolen from Sigma Chi’s front porch, according to a University Police report.
Andrew Ward, a resident of the house, told police the rocking chairs were secured to the front porch with two cable locks.

Campus Transit put the brakes on renting buses to all University Greeks after members of one sorority acted in an un-ladylike manner.
Alpha Delta Pi chartered nine Campus Transit buses to transport members for the 45-minute ride to and from the sorority’s formal in Greensboro on Friday.
