Georgia fans have long been dressing the part since the first football game in 1892 at Herty Field. Throughout the 20th century, fans continued to deck themselves in red and black to support the Bulldogs. Claude McBride, an alumnus who attended the University from 1949-53, said women mainly wore “big circular skirts,” more commonly known as dirndl skirts, and sweaters.
