Athens is a town with a rich musical history, and Athens Music Foundation intends to keep it that way.
Founded on Oct. 31, 2006, AMF is a start-up nonprofit organization created to preserve and to perpetuate the Athens music scene that has become so familiar to many.
Meters to help panhandlers

There are four meters in downtown Athens, but you can’t park in front of them.
Meter maids don’t write tickets, and they usually don’t look at them when making rounds.
Maintained by the Athens Downtown Development Authority, these meters collect money for the Homeless Coalition of Northeast Georgia, an organization which directly benefits area homeless shelters.
