Tuscan Market’s Panzanella Ingredients: 8 oz. of day-old bread 6 bell peppers 1 medium tomato 2 oz. capers 1 cup pitted black olives 1/2 cup fresh basil DRESSING: 3/4 cup tomato sauce 1/2 cup olive oil 4 cloves of garlic (minced) 4 tbsp. red wine vinegar Tear day-old bread into bite size chunks, drizzle with olive oil and then toast.

Kelly’s on Baxter Street is conveniently located for freshmen living in the high-rise dorms and lacking cooking amenities. Kelly’s cuisine tastes authentic and full of spice, with welcoming extra-sweet tea and cornbread to help cool things down. The jerk chicken is a signature dish, and the owner was kind enough to offer his recipe so readers could spice things up in their own kitchens.

Five Star Day Caf� has been a popular place for students looking for some home cooking since 1998. Five Star Day Meatloaf 1 green bell pepper, seeded and cubed 1 medium onion, roughly chopped 3 small stalks celery 1 1/4 pounds ground beef 1 pound mild pork sausage 1 1/2 cups cracker crumbs 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon dried sage 1 1/2 cups milk 1/2 cup ketchup Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

The Last Resort Grill is a favorite among Athens diners, especially hungry students looking for a slightly more upscale meal. Last Resort opened in 1966 as a music club and featured various artists like The B-52s and Jimmy Buffet. Reopening in 1992 as a restaurant, the delicious yet reasonably priced cuisine keeps the indoor/outdoor dining room full but certainly worth the wait.

Taste of India an elegant break from Broad St. norm

This week, we decided to give one of Athens’ older restaurants a try. Taste of India is located on Broad Street next to Insomnia and Eat Hibachi. Although this restaurant has been in Athens for a while, a lot of people don’t know how elegant and pleasant of a dining experience this authentic Indian restaurant offers.
The Globe offers delicious dishes, not just drinks

This week we decided to check out one of Athens’ more understated places to dine, The Globe, which is located downtown on the corner of Clayton and Lumpkin streets. The Globe is a very fun place to eat, mainly because of its atmosphere. It’s a seat-yourself restaurant with large wooden tables and deep brick and stone walls that make for a cozy winter lunch or dinner.
