Entropy back in Athens after sophomore record

After a brief hiatus from touring to record new material, Entropy returns to Athens tonight, celebrating the release of its sophomore LP, “Scrawl.” Formed in 1999 by guitarist Brian “Slappy” Goodman and drummer Rob Robinson, Entropy remained an instrumental funk trio until 2001, when vocalist and keyboardist Rod Williams joined the band, bringing new dimensions of songwriting to the band.

Guitarist returns to Athens ready to rock

Farm 255 kicks off its new Sunday Supper schedule Sunday with a Super Bowl party, featuring a casual menu and drink specials.

Philadelphia’s Lotus rocking electronica

Working their way through the South, Philadelphia-based rockers Lotus roll into Athens Saturday for a performance at the Georgia Theatre before continuing on tour to promote the band’s most recent album, “Strength of Weak Ties.” With the growing popularity of electronic dance beats in pop music and the explosion of dance punk last year, Lotus’ explorative sounds have found an easy niche amongst underground dance circuits.
