Because the University campus is so large, it can be difficult to make it on time to class. But with parking permits, students can park in spots on campus.
Students can apply online in the spring term for a spot in the fall. With the choice of 63 lots on campus, students will receive permits based on a priority system.

Univ. stresses safety to all students

As we go through college, some of us may feel nervous about the dangers of being on our own. In order to combat this anxiety, the University police department has been taking steps to help make the campus safer for students. The University police will be holding events to promote campus safety, said University Chief of Police Jimmy Williamson.
Va. Tech newspaper editors share experiences

The Virginia Tech tragedy in April left many people across the country feeling shocked.
Because of the news media’s reporting, Americans were able to learn the details of the situation.
Three representatives from Virginia Tech’s student newspaper, The Collegiate Times, visited the University Tuesday and spoke at the Management Seminar for College Newspaper Editors to explain how their newspaper was able to deliver the news after the shootings.
UGA ID numbers replace SSNs

In the past, the University has used Social Security Numbers to identify students in the classroom, leading many students to feel weary of distributing this personal information. However, beginning this fall, usage of the 810 identification number will replace using the Social Security Number in classrooms.
University road closures part of summer growth

Throughout the summer, the University has been improving roads on campus.
Sponsored by Athens-Clarke County, the construction on Lumpkin Street has included the milling and repaving of the roadbed from its intersection at Baxter Street to Lumpkin’s crossing of Broad Street.
Beechwood Chick-fil-A finally reopens

After 15 weeks of reconstruction, the Beechwood Chick-fil-A is reopening today and offering its first 100 customers free Chick-fil-A combo meals for a year.
The building, still located on Alps Road, has upgraded facilities. The new features include an indoor playground, additional seating, an updated interior design and wireless internet.
Univ. alters ticket pick-up

After last year’s chaos when students tried to get their football tickets, the Athletic Board of Directors released a new ticket-claiming policy for the 2007 season.
The new system includes a staggered pick-up process.
Students who have completed 90 or more UGA credit hours may collect their tickets Monday, Aug.
