Student film wins regional title, advances to nationals

Being the University’s first team to win the regional competition of Campus MovieFest in Atlanta was not as easy as it may look, according to two of the filmmakers.
Jason Miller, Ethan Payne and Jason Lutrell teamed up to enter a film into the festival.
Their film, “‘Til Death” did not win the University prize but went on to steal the regional honors from Atlanta schools Georgia Tech and Georgia State.
Jazz festival features local, national acts

Even Robert Osborne, host of Turner Classic Movies, is ready for Harrison Ford to reprise his Indy role in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” this summer. “I like to be entertained by movies. If you watched “Yo! MTV Raps” in the late ’80s or early ’90s, you might remember host Fab 5 Freddy giving out his e-mail address live on the air. Now, he still wants you to “holla” at him. Freddy said he was one of the first to give out an e-mail address on MTV, back when the World Wide Web had not yet consumed everyone’s lives, and he would receive 50 to 60 e-mails a day, mostly from college kids.
Atlanta-based hip-hop group now includes backing band

Unlike Smashing Pumpkins, Modern Skirts and many other bands’ names, Collective Efforts’ title can and should be taken completely on a literal level. The Atlanta-based hip-hop group began in 2002 after members of the disbanded Live on Arrival still wanted to make music, and the eclectic group is performing at the Georgia Theatre Saturday night.
