The No. 20 Georgia softball team extended its winning streak to 11 games during the weekend as they swept the Albany Great Danes and the Kent State Golden Flashes twice each to win the Georgia Softball Spring Fling in Athens.
On Friday, the Bulldogs (30-8, 3-3 SEC) opened up tournament play with a 11-3 victory over Albany.
Softball team strives to continue winning streak

After a week away from competition, the Georgia softball team (26-8, 3-3 SEC) will take its seven-game winning streak back to the field in Athens for the Georgia Softball Spring Fling this weekend.
The team was set to take on Georgia State in a double-header Wednesday in Atlanta, but the games were canceled due to weather.
Softball team beats Furman in doubleheader

The No. 16 Georgia softball team (19-5) continued its strong play on Wednesday evening as the team defeated the Furman Paladins (6-9) twice, 5-1 and 6-0.
In game one of the doubleheader, Georgia wasted no time putting runs on the board as Kristin Schnake, who moved into the leadoff spot after hitting .
Softball takes five of six, wins Athens tourney

The No. 17 Georgia softball team won its third tournament of the season this weekend at the Georgia Softball Classic in Athens, winning five out of the six games it played.
The Bulldogs (17-5) swept the Michigan State Spartans and the Butler Bulldogs, and split the series against the Longwood Lancers.
Softball team set for Classic after rough trip

The Georgia softball team (12-4) is excited to be back in Athens for the fifth annual Georgia Softball Classic, after a difficult road trip to the West Coast last weekend in which it faced four nationally ranked teams.
Head coach Lu Harris-Champer said facing the ranked opponents really helped the team improve and get ready for the rest of the season, and playing at home will be a huge relief.

The No. 21 Georgia softball team (9-2) won its second consecutive tournament this weekend at the Schutt Sports invitational in Miami, winning four out of five games it played.
The Bulldogs beat No. 18 Ohio State, Florida International, Illinois State and Providence College.

It took two seasons for catcher Melissa Wood to give up softball in the Sunshine State and take her gear back home. Good thing for the Bulldogs she did.
The senior from Lilburn played her first two collegiate years at Florida State University before she decided to transfer to Georgia.
