Felton agrees to extension with Bulldogs

Men’s basketball coach Dennis Felton received a two-year contract extension on Wednesday, according to a news release from the University Athletic Association.
The extension includes a $50,000-per-year raise. Felton had only two years remaining on his current contract, which paid him about $700,000 per year.

Joey Fisher lived in two different worlds.
On a typical Tuesday afternoon, the junior from Athens would attend a Lambda Alliance meeting, a student organization aimed at strengthening the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community in Athens.
Fisher, a sociology major, would grab his goalie gear and then hop into his car to drive an hour or two to the Atlanta Ice Forum for hockey practice with the Georgia Ice Dogs, a club team affiliated with the University.

Hackers’ motives unknown

Computer hackers who exposed confidential information on a University database did not necessarily intend to steal the information, University spokesman Tom Jackson said.
“They may have just been trying to hack to see if they could get in,” Jackson said.
An overseas hacker gained access to the Disability Resource Center database last week, exposing 3,500 student Social Security numbers and information regarding clients’ disabilities.
Athletic Board tables student ticket proposal

During a meeting on Wednesday, The Athletic Association Board of Directors did not pass a student ticket proposal aimed at giving ticket pick-up priority to students with more than 90 hours.
Security gap allows access to information

The University is contacting about 3,500 former and current students after a database breach exposed confidential information.
The breach exposed the names and Social Security numbers of clients in the Disability Resource Center, as well as their disability accommodation information.
MyID password changes promote campus-wide use

Eighty percent of MyID account holders now have a strong password.
Forty-five thousand of the 55,000 University students, faculty and staff who have a MyID account changed their password by the Jan. 31 midnight deadline.
“We were pleased with how the University responded,” Enterprise Information Technology Service (EITS) Communications Director Bert DeSimone said, adding the more MyID is used, the more important security is.
