Georgia swimmers take Fall Invite

The men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads had no trouble this weekend at the Georgia Fall Invitational, as both squads won handily at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in the Ramsey Center.
The No. 9-ranked Georgia men nearly doubled up Florida the three-day event, accumulating 1489 points to the Gators’ 758 points.
Seven Bulldogs designated to All-SEC teams

The 2009 football season wasn’t what Bulldog Nation wanted, but the team was still able to place seven players on the Associated Press All-Southeastern Conference teams.
Sophomores, receiver A.J. Green and punter Drew Butler, along with junior linebacker Rennie Curran were all named to the first team, it was announced Monday.
Drew Butler named to coaches’ All-America team

Georgia punter Drew Butler was named to the 2009 American Football Coaches All-America Team on Thursday, the AFCA announced. Butler joins his father, Kevin, on the list of All-Americans, as the elder Butler won the honors in 1983 and 1984 as a place kicker.
Glad rivalry is back between Dogs and Tech

I was born and raised with red and black running through my veins. My dad raised me listening to Larry Munson on the radio and every Saturday during the fall was almost as special as Christmas day.
I remember coming up to Athens as a tot and watching Garrison Hearst beat Tech in 1992 while throwing out a Heisman pose after crossing the goal line.
McPhee propels Bulldogs past UNC-Asheville, 79-58

Led by a career high 20 points from Ricky McPhee, the Georgia basketball team defeated North Carolina-Asheville 79-58 Tuesday night.
“We were bigger than them and there’s not many games this year that we’re going to be more talented than the other team and tonight was a night that we were more talented,” Georgia head coach Mark Fox said.
Veazey paralyzed, but a ‘trooper’

Freshman baseball player Chance Veazey is paralyzed from the waist down, Dr. Donald Peck Leslie announced Thursday from the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
Veazey has been unable to walk since he was in a motor scooter accident on Oct. 28 after leaving the Miller Learning Center around 11 p.
James scores 25 in Bulldogs’ victory over Mocs

The Georgia women’s basketball team was led by its strong guard play Thursday night in a 74-57 win on the road over the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
Led by senior Ashley Houts’ 21 points and freshman Jasmine James’ 25, the Lady Dogs turned a 36-33 halftime deficit into a throttling in the second half.

For the third consecutive year, the men’s basketball team was at the bottom of the SEC when it comes to graduation success rates.
According to the NCAA report released Wednesday, for freshmen who entered between 1999-2002, Georgia had only 18 percent of its men’s basketball team graduate in the six years since they entered the University – a number that is 11 percent lower than the next lowest, LSU.
Diamond Dogs ink three recruits for 2010 season

The national early signing period that began Nov. 11 officially ended Wednesday, and the Diamond Dogs inked three prospects on the last day.
Pitchers Taylor Hicks and Joe Robinson, along with first baseman/outfielder Austin Wheeler, have all signed on with Georgia for next season, according to head coach David Perno.
Volleyball downed in five sets

For Georgia volleyball’s last home match of the season, the fans were not at a loss for action or things to cheer about.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs(15-13, 6-11), they fell just short of the Tennessee Volunteers, losing in five sets.
“Our team played as courageous and well together as we really could have today,” Georgia head coach Joel McCartney said to UGA Sports Communications.
