When I was in seventh grade, I lived the dream of nearly every American girl with an imagination: top-notch dress-up chest, and heart of gold – or ruby. You are under arrest. You have the right to remain silent and short of satisfied by your current repertoire of rock bands – or you can break free from the bonds of boredom and take in the volatile electro-pop of Tokyo Police Club. Although the Canadian four-piece’s sound is most comparable to the gritty, simplistic style established by The Strokes, its own brand of arresting post-punk is far from a threatening case of identity theft.
