Sorority aids China’s needs

The sisters of Alpha Sigma Rho are breaking down the walls between cultures. Alpha Sigma Rho has joined forces with Chinacare, an organization founded to help orphaned children in China. Last year the sorority raised enough money to fund a cleft lip surgery for one of the orphans.
Univ. grad leads volunteer trip

Social work isn’t just for social workers.
Kerry Steinberg, a 2002 University graduate from Lilburn with a degree in Spanish, knows the importance of volunteer work.
After working with a Peruvian colleague who had witnessed poverty in Peru, Steinberg said she wanted to take Americans there to help its people, and in return, teach the volunteers to serve others better.
Group holds benefits to aid indoctrinated children

Invisible Children is an organization in which “you feel like you’re doing something bigger,” Angela Goncalves, a sophomore and group member, said.
The organization dedicates itself to raising awareness and funds for children kidnapped and brainwashed into becoming child soldiers in war-torn Northern Uganda.
