Some of the University’s ecology students took the theme of sustainability to a whole nude level. Covered in little but watering cans, bicycles and other recyclables, they modeled in a 2009 calendar that encourages green living.

Error drops Univ. in magazine rankings

The University has dropped from first to fourth place in SmartMoney Magazine’s “Best Colleges for Making Money” ranking due to an error in the data the University’s Office of Public Affairs sent to the magazine. The office originally sent SmartMoney tuition data that did not reflect the University’s transfer from a quarterly system to a semester system in 1998.

Here we go again. This time, though, it’s costing us $100 more than last semester. Like many, I’m beginning the new year with a set of goals in mind, and I thought I’d share a few. The national economic crisis and University budget cuts and their effects dominated Thursday’s University Council meeting.

“We’re facing an economic crisis of a magnitude not seen since World War II,” said University President Michael Adams, who addressed the $100 special spring student fee.

Zoey the zebra from Cleveland, Ga. attracted attention and represented the two sides of Global L.E.A.D. at Tate plaza on Tuesday. “It used to be one or the other, study abroad or service abroad, black or white – that simple,” said Kevin Scott, 2007 University alumnus and director of global outreach for the group.

TV star advises Univ. filmmakers on careers

A University alumnus who produces, writes and stars in his own TV series will give advice to aspiring student filmmakers today. Before meeting with students, he granted an interview with The Red & Black Tuesday.

Henry Cameron “Hadjii” Hand, a 1999 University telecommunication arts grad, got his big break when his independent film “Somebodies” was converted into a BET sitcom.
