Following latest rejection, Richt must quickly hire new defensive coordinator So, now that Kirby Smart declined the opportunity to leave Alabama and become the defensive coordinator at his alma mater, where does Georgia head coach Mark Richt turn? Not to Bud Foster of Virginia Tech or John Chavis of LSU, since each received lucrative bonuses [...]

Our Take: Increase tuition

An increase in University tuition would improve quality of education It’s no surprise that in tough times, the University has to make a tough call: Is raising tuition the answer to our budget woes? More money gone The Board of Regents is expected to increase a ‘one time’ fee to $200 Here we go again. One year after the Board of Regents instituted its “one-time” student fee increase, they are voting today to charge us again. But this time it isn’t a question of will they or won’t they, it’s a question of whether it will be last year’s amount of $100 or to kick it up to $200.

Editor’s note on editorial cartoon

By on November 13, 2009

Big Brother?A camera in a campus classroom leaves us with more questions than answers. There’s a camera in Park 139, and although we’ve asked questions about the purpose, price and use, we’re still not sure what to think about it. In fact, we have many unanswered questions: Why won’t anyone tell us the price? Isn’t it funded through University money? What exactly is it used for? Why is the camera there if no one can use it? If it is used, will students be notified? The camera was bought last spring when the English department had money left over in its technology fund.

Since kindergarten, we’ve been told that if we simply put in the required effort, we’ll be rewarded with high grades.
