Paige Wilson was looking for a way out of Winfield. Her first foray into softball was with the Winfield Wolverines, the local little league in her hometown, a Chicago suburb populated by fewer than 10,000 people. She started out in the circle before moving to second base. She climbed the ladder from Little League success to all-conference [...]

Tess Sito led Georgia both at the plate and in the circle in the Bulldogs' 9-1 victory over the Kennesaw State Owls on Wednesday night. Sito went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs to help her own cause in the circle, where she went five innings and tallied seven strikeouts to pick up the win.

Georgia softball team’s ‘clutch’ performance against Alabama bodes well going forward

By on April 24, 2012

Every night packed bleachers, every night rowdy fans, every night fewer and fewer available parking spaces at Jack Turner Softball Stadium. The Georgia-Alabama series last weekend was a nail-biter, a surprise since many expected the No. 2 Crimson Tide to whoop up on the No. 12 Bulldogs. And the Bulldogs’ losses weren’t marred by careless [...]

Georgia freshman Paige Wilson went 2-for-2 on Saturday against Alabama, which included a solo home run in the fifth inning. It was not enough to help the No. 12 Bulldogs overcome the No. 2 Crimson Tide, however, as they fell to the visitors 6-4. SEAN TAYLOR/STAFF

It was standing room only in Jack Turner Softball Stadium Saturday afternoon — packed to capacity, with “Go Dawgs” signs and foam fingers and pom-poms and every Georgia spirit tool you could imagine or purchase from the University Bookstore. But their faith was sadly misplaced. In an end to the weekend series, No. 2 Alabama [...]

Anna Swafford scored Georgia's final run on Friday against Alabama, but it was not enough to capture a victory, as the Crimson Tide beat the Bulldogs 8-3 in Athens. The series is tied at one game apiece, with the third and deciding game set to begin on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ROBYN JOHNSON/Staff

As the No. 12 Georgia softball team faced off against No. 2 Alabama in the second game of the series Friday night, Jack Turner Softball Stadium was packed with enthusiastic spectators for both teams. But only one saw the night end well. Still riding high from Thursday night’s [...]
